Live on purpose, NOT your purpose
“Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”
– Howard Thurman
Living with intention.
I don’t really believe in the idea of having one purpose that you have to discover, or you have to fulfill. No such thing.
I believe in intentional living, which you can describe as your “purpose”, or purposeful living. In work, my intention is and my own expression is to cultivate and elicit in others that which makes their heart sign, their body, mind, and spirit come alive and thrive. That’s it. I choose to live on purpose, that which makes my own heart sing.
Purpose, calling, truth, call it any name. It is just what makes us us, what makes us express us in the most authentic expansive, raw form, despite having critics or those who praise.
Live with intention, live with integrity, most importantly be yourself.
Spend less time becoming who are you not, and more time building who you already are.
– Dr. Igor Schwartzman
What makes you come alive?
Do you come alive every morning when you wake up?
Got your answers?
If you are like most people, it is possible that you do not know the answer. Perhaps you have taken the time to ask yourself this question, yet nothing comes up.
Sometimes the answers do not come, because the question is too vague. What makes me come alive? You could come up with a long list, these may include cooking, painting, hiking, kayaking, spending time with friends, on and on and on…
Asking many questions is really invaluable. This is something we encourage our children, at least my hope is that it is the case, to ask questions and be curious.
You cannot solve a problem, if you do not know the question. Are you asking the appropriate questions in relationship to what makes you “come alive”?
Wake up with the intention to make a difference.
What will you do today that makes the biggest difference?
