Personify Your Niche
Reveal your hidden gem inside you. When you seek deeply-meaningful relationships, then seek those who allow you to be yourself, or seek those who love you as you are. When you seek out the path you wish to pursue in your life’s work, then seek out the work that allows you to be yourself, or seek the path that will let you express your love as you are.
When you first fall in love, you experience a sense of euphoria. It lasts for a while. Then you become a committed partner, perhaps share a home together, share responsibilities, start a family, and on and on. This experience sometimes takes all of the fun out of it. Doesn’t it? Responsibilities, shared obligations, commitments often lead to that loss of euphoria.
Imagine what you felt at the time that you began your new work, or started a new project, you had a similar feeling of euphoria and excitement. You likely felt inspired, motivated, ready to get out of bed and feel it again. As time goes on, the excitement fades, the responsibilities and obligations rise, and you lose your spark. Why? Because we programmed to love new things, new experiences, new relationships.
Something that is new in our life triggers a chemical reaction in the body, which creates a series of neurotransmitters, including dopamine. What is unique about dopamine is that it helps to regulate your brain’s reward and pleasure center. Its activation plays a role in your emotional responses to any given reward and the increase in motivation for you to take action toward it. This is one of the reasons you can get caught in the never-ending cycle of being a dopamine-seeker. In other words, seeking all types of sensations, feelings, and experiences of pleasure. These can be in any shape or form.
If your life’s work is not inspiring, or inspirational, your sense of euphoria dies quickly, which leads you down the same path of needing something new, that next thing to give you that familiar jolt of dopamine.
Identify and choose your life’s work.
Easier said than done. I know. It really is a challenge. When you feel as though you have skills and aptitude, gifts to share with others, desire to do something amazing in life, and embrace and do something unique and different, yet it is not happening. Why me, poor me, when is this going to change, I know I have what it takes, it is not happening…and here is another day, and another week, and another month, and the year is gone. Time goes where your energy flows.
Life gets in the way. Too many responsibilities. I get it. You have family, kids, jobs, and so many to-do lists.
Yet, somehow you get the tugging sensation that you need a change in life. You need to transform and embrace your hidden-treasure that is yearning to burst out of you.
Fear. Anger. Resentment. So many emotions surface up. What is preventing you from taking action? The most common answer is that “I just don’t know what to do”.
My recommendations are to begin with your own foundation:
“start with where you are”
“start with who you are”
“start with why you are”
“start with you”
Begin by taking inventory of your life, your health, your relationships, your work.
Begin by learning to become a conscious observer of what is around you.
- What do you observe? You already have everything you need, but what you lack is focus, attention-to-details, awareness of your own surroundings.
- How can you use your life’s precious energy to do what makes your heart beat?
The most important discovery you will ever make that will revolutionize your life’s work is when you spend the time you need to discover more about you.
